I always tell people, I'm an activist, not a politician. I don't have it in me to be politically correct but I can genuinely see many sides to an issue. Except this one. The confederate flag flew over the grounds of the SC state house and a tragic shooting in Charleston sparked debate on its continued relevance. My thoughts were this: whether you think it's a symbol of hertiage or hate the bottom line is that it is not an official flag on the state Capitol and is becoming increasingly decisive. It needed to come down. To mark this historical event we took the kids to a rally to take down the flag. It was a groundbreaking moment in history and although they are too young to understand the impact of what happened I am glad that they were able to see the power of people coming together.
